I am in high spirits despite the rather pessimistic undertones of the title of what is my first blog. The reasons for my good mood are that my website is about to be completed and looks great...well done Mr Paul Allen. Secondly, I am a month away from shooting my next short film 'Room 21'. I have managed to strike a deal with Britfilms.tv and Eureka Films to release the film on their New Talent DVD label which I am very pleased about. I am right in the middle of pre-prodution and things are coming together nicely.
Perhaps if I give a brief synopsis of the film: A dreamlike plunge into repressed sexual desire and exploration of S&M through enactment and the similarity of extreme opposites.
I have lined up Danny Husbands (Dreamteam, Doctors, Hollyoaks) to play the lead male and adult entertainer Teresa Scott to play a dominatrix character.
I have spent a lot of time working on the visual elements of the film from the colours to the lighting and and camerawork with my DOP and editor/grader and even more time on the soundscapes that will underly the piece. I hope these elements will combine to create the dreamlike atmosphere I want to communicate to the viewer. I will soon be doing rehearsels with my actors so that we can figure out the tone of the performances and find what is going to work most effectively. I'm really excited about this film and will use this blog as a way to keep anyone who is interested up to date with what is happening.
